| These pictures are from my trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas May 15th
- 20th, 2004. This trip was different from other trips I have taken
because my now ex-girlfriend Christine and Jory's girlfriend Fuying followed us
in Fuying's car. May is normally a rainy month but we were lucky, it
rained on us only once for a very short time.
Saturday night was spent in Talihina, OK. Jory took Fuying for a ride on the Talimena Scenic Byway after we arrived in Talihina. Sunday Jory and I rode to Eureka Springs via the Talimena Scenic Byway, AR 71 and AR 23. Monday and Tuesday we rode the scenic and twisty roads of the Ozarks. I used the Arkansas Rider's Guide to create rides for each day. I highly recommend it with one caveat, some of the counties have changed their county road numbers to support 911, check an updated map to avoid getting lost. Wednesday Jory and I rode to Mena and stayed at the Ozark Inn, Jory rode the Talimena Scenic Byway. Thursday we headed home, we tried to ride the Talimena Scenic Byway to Talihina but there was a thick fog so we took 259 to Broken Bow, 70 to Durant and 75 to Sherman, etc. |
We ate lunch at City Limits in Sherman. Jory's parents ran a cafe here.
Jory inside City Limits. The framed picture on the right shows his parents standing outside their cafe that is now City Limits.
Gas stop in Antlers, Oklahoma. We met three guys taking a one day trip to the Talimena Scenic Byway from Dallas.
We stayed Saturday night at the Kiamichi Inn in Talihina.
Jory and his new 2004 Gold Wing at a scenic overlook along the Talimena Scenic Byway on the way to Eureka Springs.
Clouds made it impossible to capture the beauty from the scenic overlook.
Gas stop in Mena, Arkansas on the way to Eureka Springs. We had plenty of company from other riders.

We stayed Sunday through Tuesday at Sherwood Court in Eureka Springs. I highly recommend it, super clean, biker friendly and the owners are very nice. |
Inside our cottage at Sherwood Court.

Taking a break on the Monday morning ride.
I wasted myself on a career in software, I should have been a model.
As you can see the roads are very inviting.
We ate lunch Monday at the Ozone Burger Barn. It doesn't look like much but the burgers are very good!
Across the street from the Burger Barn is a shop that sells muzzle loaders.
|
This outhouse was several yards from the Burger Barn, not sure if it belongs to them. Note the one modern convenience, a toilet seat. Keeps those painful splinters out of your ass. |
Bad news for truck drivers, good news for motorcycle riders.
We stopped to check the map on the Tuesday ride and these two friendly horses came to see what we were doing.
.
I am dreaming of a hamburger, not Sloppy Joes on a bun.
It must have been sign season in the Ozarks, we saw a lot of signs with bullet holes.
Taking a break along the Pig Trail Scenic Byway.
We stayed Wednesday night at the Ozark Inn in Mena, Arkansas. The Kiamichi Inn in Talihina is a much better value.
Looks like this guy is ready for sign season judging from the rifle visible in the back window.
We ate breakfast at the Skyline Cafe in Mena, Arkansas on the way home. The food and service are outstanding.
