These pictures are from my motorcycle trip to Big Bend on March 6-10, 2002 . Our route turned out to be good except for some construction which forced us to ride on a dirt road. Leaving Saginaw at 8:00am we arrived at 6:00pm in Alpine, 10 hours and 485 miles later. We cruised 75 to 80 MPH most of the way, except for the 80 mile run between Eldorado and Iraan at 80 to 90 MPH.
Taken from a rest stop just west of Iraan.
Another shot at the rest stop.
We stayed at the La Loma motel.
Interesting decor. La Loma is about 4 months old and built on a budget; but it was clean, quiet and inexpensive at $36 per night.
Looks like my dining table at home!
Just inside Big Bend national park. The entrance is at the white building on the left.
Cool tunnel through a mountain.
The Rio Grande river, Mexico is on the other side.
Jory next to the Rio Grande.
