These pictures are from my trip to Carlsbad Caverns on September 20th - 22nd, 2003. The route was 425 miles from Saginaw to Carlsbad and required 8.5 hours.

Loaded up and ready to leave Saginaw at 8:00am.

Jory fills up his ST1000.

We ate lunch at this excellent Mexican restaurant in Snyder.

We came across the Sky-Vue Drive-In in Lamesa on U.S. 180

We stayed at the Motel 6 in Carlsbad. A decent place for the price.

Motorcycle parking at the Carlsbad Caverns visitors center is excellent. The reserved space is right in front of the visitors center.

Looking out from the visitors center.

Interesting cactus on the way to the natural entrance to the caverns.

Offices and park ranger quarters.

Amphitheater near the natural entrance to the caverns. People gather here to see the bats fly at dusk. The rangers gave an excellent talk about the bats.

Natural entrance to the caverns, the bats fly from here at dusk. A self guided tour into the caverns starts here.

See those black spots? It is guano also known as bat poop. At one time guano was mined from the caverns and sold as fertilizer.

Inside the caverns.

Gas stop in Snyder on the way home.
