These pictures are from our trip to the Grand Canyon October 7th - 15th, 2005. We covered 2,462 miles, the longest trip I have taken so far. The scenery was awesome, not just the Grand Canyon but sections of New Mexico and Arizona were very nice as well. Click here to see some of the roads we traveled.

Ready to leave Saginaw on Friday morning, we met at a carwash due to rain.

First gas stop in Albany, TX.

Lunch at the Dairy Queen in Snyder, TX.

Arriving at the Bel-Air motel in Vaughn, NM. after riding 575 miles on Friday. The Bel-Air is clean, comfortable and at around $40/night the price is right .

We ate dinner Friday night and breakfast Saturday morning at Penny's in Vaughn. The food and service were excellent.

Stopping at a rest stop along U.S. 60 outside of Vaughn, NM.

Stopping at a rest stop along U.S. 60 west of Mountainair. We were lucky enough to meet a local rider that talked us into changing our route to include the Sedona area. We rode U.S. 60 to S.R. 260 then north on 89A to I-40.

Stopping in Pie Town, NM. No we didn't eat any pie.

At a gas stop in Quemado, NM we saw this cool Post Office.

We met this guy in Springerville, AZ. He started his trip from Minnesota and was headed to a town outside Phoenix, AZ.

We stayed Saturday night at the KC Motel in Show Low, AZ. A great value with clean rooms.

Inside my room at the KC  Motel.

Stopping along S.R. 260 west of Show Low. The elevation was about 7700 feet, the bikes were noticeably down on power.

Stopping along S.R. 260.

Just south of Sedona, AZ on 89A the scenery becomes very nice.

North of Sedona on 89A the scenery gets even better.

Greg at Slide Rock State Park on 89A north of Sedona, AZ.

We stayed at The Grand Motel in Williams, AZ. An alternative is The Lodge.

This is my original room, I changed rooms due to a worn out mattress. Unfortunately I ended up cutting my head on the TV stand in the new room.

Monday morning rush hour in Williams, AZ.

Interesting store in Williams, AZ. It's a combination liquor store and gun shop.

See, I wasn't kidding.

A vintage Dairy Queen on Route 66.

Monday morning we rode S.R. 64 from Williams to the Grand Canyon.

These pictures don't do the Grand Canyon justice, it's incredible.

For some reason people throw change onto this rock.

Parking at the Visitor's Center is scarce.

We made our own parking spot by wedging in next to this motor home.

Humphrey's Peak along U.S. 180 is the tallest peak in Arizona.

Tuesday we took a tour with Marvelous Marv. I highly recommend their tour.

Marv and Maggie showed us some great views of the Grand Canyon.

These pictures were taken while on Marvelous Marv's tour.

The Kolb Studio.

We met the couple below on Marvelous Marv's tour, they were retired and traveled full time in an RV.

We hiked the trail in this photo a short distance, steep grades and altitude made it challenging.

No, we didn't spoon that night.

The Hopi House.

The El Tovar Hotel.

Wednesday we rode Grand Canyon Railway.

Loading up Thursday morning for the ride home. We spent 3 days riding the scenic route home and taking it easy.

We stopped at the Meteor Crater on the way home.

We stopped to take a look at the Wigwam Village Motel in Holbrook, AZ. I would love to stay there, very cool.

Inside one of the Wigwams, they are very clean and nice!

Stopping near the National Radio Astronomy Observatory near Socorro, NM.

We stayed Thursday night at the Sands Motel in Socorro, NM. The shower in our rooms should be condemned by the EPA.

East side of the Capitan Mountains on U.S. 380.

To some riders this may look like the aftermath of a clutch slave cylinder failure. Actually it's due to a cut in Greg's rear tire. He was lucky enough to see the problem at a convenience store in Tatum, NM. He ended up calling Honda Rider's Club to tow the bike to Lubbock, TX. Honda of Lubbock's service writer and mechanic stayed late on a Friday night to mount a new tire.

We rode from Lubbock to Post after the new tire was installed and spent Friday night at the Budget Inn. This is a very nice and clean motel and at $40/night it's a bargain.

Loading up for the ride home Saturday morning. If you have not see enough click here for more pictures from the trip.
