These pictures are from our trip to the Natchez Trace Parkway; March 14th - 17th, 2008. The plan was to head to Birmingham, AL and tour the Barber Motorsports Museum and Talladega Speedaway. Bad weather and a desire to ride the Natchez Trace Parkway changed our plans on Saturday.

Loaded up and ready to leave Saginaw, we pulled out at 7:21am.

First gas stop.

Mississippi state line.

Arriving at Tallahatchie Flats in Greenwood, MS. It's a fun place to stay, definitely different! Don't be fooled, this place is clean and quiet. Mister Bubba is a great host.

This flat is named "Red House" in honor if the Jimi Hendrix song "Red House Over Yonder".

I stayed in the Palo Alto house, Greg in Nellie's House.

Nellie's House.

This church is one of three places blues legend Robert Johnson is reported to be buried. It's less than a mile from Tallahatchie Flats. Mister Bubba told us the $8000 monument for Robert Johnson had been stolen.

Saturday we decided to ride the Natchez Trace Parkway north from U.S. 82 instead of heading to Birmingham. The Parkway runs near Tupelo, MS; we could not pass up a chance to visit Elvis' birthplace.

A statue of Elvis as a boy.

Inside Elvis' home. The furniture did not belong to his family but it's from the same period.

Stopping along the Natchez Trace Parkway.

We were tired and cold at this point so we used the GPS to route us to a motel in Florence, AL.

This is what I found on my bed sheet at the Hampton Inn, I was miffed. Luckily I had two beds and the other was fine. Next morning I told the clerk about it and she gave me a full refund, I was gleeful!

Loading up to leave Florence, AL.

Sunday we rode across Tennessee into Kentucky so we could add another state to our growing list. We added four states on this trip, not bad for a four day trip.

Last stop in Greenville, TX. We rode 500 miles on Monday from just outside Memphis, TN to home for a total of 1,643 miles in 4 days.
